Riiiight. So as part of my applauding of the 70th birthday of the Official Singles Chart, I’ve made ‘one or two’ playlists as pop music is important. The Number Two single is a unique beast, mainly because it’s not a Number One and history has shown that it could be as few as a couple of dozen to several hundred thousand sales that have denied these tunes their coronation as Chart Toppers. I’d argue that some act’s runner-ups are possibly somewhat better than their first placers, too.
